About LMA

Loop Music Academy, guitar and bass lessons in Dallas, TX

The Loop Music Academy officially launched in 2024, as an alternative to frustrating guitar/bass lesson options. LMA uses it’s song-first approach to bring beginners faster results.

LMA’s origins unofficially date back to 2017, when founder, Eric Loop, began teaching local guitar lessons in and around Dallas, TX. Over the years, he’s taught all ages and many levels of guitarists/bass guitarists, helping players develop their passion for music and their instrument. With constant iteration, Eric has refined his song-first approach and seen first-hand what it takes for students to succeed at the instrument.

Meet the Founder: Eric Loop

Eric Loop has been listening, playing, and engaging with music for his whole life. At the age of 5, he began taking formal piano lessons that started his journey learning instruments, but after many years, he grew weary of the regimented practice schedules, tedious music theory exercises, and stuffy recitals. He shortly after picked up the acoustic guitar and began learning with an excellent teacher who unlocked a new love of music through learning popular songs! Together, they would sit and scroll through Eric’s iPod, choose a song, and learn some version of that song in that 30-minute lesson. This influential teacher and lesson style planted the first seeds in Eric about what successful music lessons looked like. Quickly, Eric acquired an electric guitar and started venturing into the Blues/Jazz/Rock landscape, studying even more types of guitar.

Along the way, Eric and his high school friends started a garage rock band, Auto, and played countless gigs around their hometown as his passion for songwriting and musical performance grew. As a part of this band, Eric picked up a bass guitar for the first time and instantly gravitated towards the instrument with its unique voice and role in a band.

When Eric attended the University of Texas in Austin, he knew his passion for music would be further fed by living in the best live music city in the world. He quickly met a thriving community of young musicians that would continue to shape his understanding of music and inspire a new level of creativity. During his Freshman year, Eric released his first body of work, The Dorm Room Demo EP, self-produced and recorded in his college dorm. He also joined the band Dayglow, as the bass player and backup vocalist, gigging around Austin and touring with the band in its infancy. He continued releasing music with two singles releasing in Spring of 2020, Caught Dreaming and Looking Glass.

In early 2020, Eric began playing bass/singing for the band Briscoe. He has since toured nationwide, playing headline shows across the country and festivals like Bonnaroo, Shaky Knees, and Inningsfest while also opening for artists like CAAMP, Zach Bryan, and Dave Matthews Band.

During his time with Briscoe, he’s remained committed to refining his bass, guitar, singing, songwriting, and production skills as well as growing his local guitar lesson business on the side. While in college, Eric started and developed his guitar/bass lesson business locally in Dallas, TX when he was home for the summers and during holidays. Additionally, he began trying out the concept of virtual lessons, taking careful notes on what worked and what didn’t when learning guitar virtually. He’s taught a variety of ages and guitar/bass levels, from ages 5 to 65 and beginner to advanced.
